Explain something to me. Most Democrats have similar political beliefs to the National Socialist Party. Why then is it so vogue to compare conservatives to Nazis when in reality most of the political beleives of liberals are parallel to the Nazis?
Just food for thought.

More details comparing the two...
Nationalized healthcare, supprting of the working class (unions), power of the state to control actions (excessive taxing), disarming of the populous.
These are just a few examples

C'mon people. Think! I did't mention the Third Reich. I mentioned the National Socialist Party (Nazi) not Hitler's Third Reich.
All of you but one played into it. It's a horrible use of the term and a historically misused. Now forget Hitler and look up the founding ideals of the Nazi party. I'll even make it easier for you. Think Marxist.
I'm looking for a well thought out answer and not an emotional knee jerk.

uh no
Deciding to break away from King And Country was a pretty liberal thing to do. lol But by no means were the founding Father Socialist.
Liberals and Nazis uhh that's quite a stretch:
Liberal:
Liberalism is an ideology, philosophical view, and political tradition which holds that liberty is the primary political value. Liberalism has its roots in the Western Enlightenment, but the term now encompasses a diversity of political thought.
Nazism:
Nazism is the ideology that was held by the National Socialist German Workers Party. The word Nazism is most often used in connection with the government of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945, also known as the "Third Reich." In terms of ideology, the Nazis believed in the superiority of an Aryan master race, advocated individual leadership in a strong, centralized government, and claimed to be defending Germany and the entire Western world against communism and Jewish subversion.
Lot's different...no parallels to Liberals there...
Actually when you think about it, come you can do it.
Sounds like Nazis were very Conservative, hmmm doesn't sound like much diverse political thought to me.
Nazis----Conservatives
exclusionary narrow minded ways of thinking
Hope this helps :)
Good luck and happy trails

Well if you use "the road map to politics" you wouldn't ask this question, basiclly it boils down to this:
Far Right would be where the Fascism would be: Indiviuals in power
Far Left would be where communisim would be: The people (theoreticlly) are in power
Centre would be where democracy would be
Socialism woud be some where Centre Left.
Canada would be considered a socialist country (somewhat), we are a democracy but we have many social programs that support the most needy, we have government run schools and medical system.
So to parallel anyone to Nazis is just insulting, no one has a right to invoke or attach anyone to them. Unless they have actually done things that rivial what the Nazis did but in America I just don't see anyone who would meet that diffination (yet)
Nazism is a political party, not a system of government.

Yes you are correct on both accounts. Historically liberal minded humans tend to favor Socialism. Generally Communists are considered left winged while Nazis were right wing extremists.
However the "Political Correct" use Nazi tactics
and tell others how to think/talk/act. Instead of worshipping the "Fatherland," the PC crowd reversed it. They made the Untermensch gentile males & created the anti-Gentile Family Laws.
It has been found that Politically Correct own Chinese factories & have been instrumental in outsourcing American jobs.
Crystal Nacht was 12/05 when celebrating Christmas is under attack. Liebensborn today, is when sons are taken away from their fathers. In effect, creating a "Politically Corrected Youth" of angry & low self-esteem boys in an economy of little jobs.
Army jobs are all that is available for many of them.
Very sneaky & the PC are just as dangerous as Hitler. The Kapos are back & Killul Hashem are bad for all.

Actually, you have it wrong. National Socialism is basically what Neo-Cons have been trying to construct in this nation for quite some time.
In National Socialism, the state becomes the focus of religion and all other activities. Evangelicals in this country are trying to do the same thing in this country by slowly taking control of our government.
Now we Liberals may be a host of non-flattering things, but Nazis...fraid not...the conservatives own that one.

I love how people on here confuse the "liberatarian" leaning of our founding fathers with the "liberal" ideology of today.
Also, I love how since the "liberal" ideology is supposedly centered on freedom, "liberals" are constantly trying to add MORE rules and laws to the books.
Think Tipper Gore and the way she had full liberal support when trying to BAN certain music because she said:
The mothers claimed that popular music, especially rock music, was partially responsible for the (at the time) recent increase in rape, teenage pregnancy, and teen suicide. The PMRC's mission was "to educate and inform parents" about "the growing trend in music towards lyrics that are sexually explicit, excessively violent, or glorify the use of drugs and alcohol", and to seek the censorship and rating of music.
THIS OBVIOULY SEEKS A "WE KNOW WHATS BEST FOR YOU" NANNY-STATE.
This is "liberalism."

What I find most amusing, is once someone throws a label on another person, ignoring both the meaning of the word and the fact that the person being labeled doesn't agree.
When people can make up whatever meaning they want for the words and labels they throw around, those words become meaningless. Which devolves the entire conversation to mindless shouting.

Witchy Women,
Take one look at Rob Reiner who calls himself the perfect liberal and tell me liberals are not in all actuality socialists.
Definition of Socialist........ Group of people who believe the the government at large knows what is best for individuals more than those individuals do themselves.
Rob Reiner's record on socialistic bills is a matter of public record.
Oh and hate to mention that fact that is was liberals that fought so hard against make slavery illegal. That does seem very neo-Nazi to me even before the Nazi's where recognized.

I think you have socialism and fascism confused, my friend. And I futher think that you have no real idea of what Democrats are all about. And why is it that you compare the Third Reich to socialism? What Hitler wanted to do had nothing in common with the basic tenets of true socialism.

Neither conservatives nor liberals ought to be called "Nazis", unless the persons themselves champion the fascist cause (which is extreme conservatism, and not conservatism). Some liberals are socialists, but most liberals in the United States do not consider themselves "Socialist".

... interesting name... perhaps that's a bit more of a republican hero than others that are mentioned... but anyway...
well... your talking about the social programs... which some are somewhat similar, but they differ from person to person... we're not like Republicans... we all don't have to think the same way you know...
but we differ quite starkly in "political technique" and in ways to apply the programs...
your question is like saying michael jordan and larry bird are the same because they both have the same goals (putting the ball in the basket, in their case)... when in reality they had very different ways of achieving the goals... and the Nazi ways were very un-liberal...
and I'm really not sure that the programs weren't anything more than propaganda to subdue the populace during the plundering of europe...
most liberals that could be considered "socialists" are "democratic socialists"... VERY DIFFERENT from "national socialism" that you mention... if you know anything about politics
most people compare the nazis to the current republicans in techniques like ... using fear... promoting fear... using relgion... dismissing anything against them as "liberal bias"...
if you read about hitler... he hated liberals... so, that kind of blows your theory to H*ll...
