I want a nice hill where there is little light in the surrounding area for I can observe with the naked eye/ a small telescope..

Not knowing the area too well -- I would sugest that you could go west on I70 and get off south bound on 90.
Or you could go noth toward the indian reservation.
Once you are outside the town you should have sufficent reduction in light for you to get agood view.

I'd recommend calling up the folks at the WU observatory and asking them. They can probably also tell you of any amateur astronomy associations in the area and when their star parties are, if you are interested. Astronomers love talking about observing with others, so don't be shy in contacting them.
