Are you in high school or college? if you are in high school then see if there are any programs that give them out. As far as not making it without, why? I made it through college and never touched a computer.

Try checking local newspaper ads, many people will give things away for free. I've seen people list refrigerators, old CRT monitors, and the most popular, dirt. If you receive the PennySaver, you should check that, or you could go online to their website. You can also try going to Cragislist and look under free stuff. You could also try asking friends or family members to see if you could borrow a laptop for you to use. I don't believe you will fail school without it, because you could do the same with a regular desktop computer.

Try freecycle.com. People give away lots of things they don't need anymore. Sign up for an account, it's free, for your area. Then post that you are looking for one. Good luck finding one.

Do a search to see if there is a freecycle in your area. People there sometimes have old computers that they no longer need but do not want to throw away.

Your not gonna find a free one...although you can find cheap ones...also some school...well colleges...have a "Rent" program for students to rent a laptop for a semester...
