Has anyone noticed that all she does is tell people to "get help" or "get counceling". This info is everywhere, does she really think her column is doing a service by repeating what's already widely known?

Ever since she died she's been giving crummy advice. I agree and don't read her answers, just the dumb questions. lol.

Well, the "Dear Abby" colum is 1. to fill in space and 2. to captivate readers.

People who read it one day and like the answers continue reading it. Not everyone shares the same views and t he "Dear Abby" colum allows people to read the questions that others have and the answers that others have to it. What may be "already known" to you may not be known to others. This question you are asking me is not a question I would ask because the answer is an easy one to me.

The "Dear Abby" colum is there for both a moral and market reason. And the "Dear Abby" does not necessarily need to be female, but just a person who has the answer.

Sometimes it takes just someone that listens to you and answers you to make you do something. Even if one knows the answer, knows exactly what to do, without the helping aid of either word or hand, he or she may not do so. It is a kind of mental thing.

I like to read Dear Abby. The original Abby (Abigail Van Buren) does not write the column any more. It's good to read about people more screwed up than I am.

There are times when that is the best answer to give to someone. I enjoy Dear Abby and hope it stays around for a long time.

hmm, sort like yaho answers when people keep asking the same questions: "Am I fat...pregnant...favorite color...love Jesus?" It is insane...so let Dr. Abby live because the same people who ask the same questions over and over and over again relly need her, no doubt.
