To those F1 fans who hate NASCAR...do you also hate NHRA or any other types of American racing? Just curious.

F1 folks can't spell out "formula 1" so the have to use an abreviation! So they have to have something to fuss about.

No, we only hate the "races" that require no talent: ovals and straight lines. Anything driven on road courses and street circuits, we watch: Champ Car (except for the F1 snobs), ALMS, Grand Am, AMA Superbikes, Atlantics, Star Mazda, F2000, you name it.

If you polled F1 fans, you would find many watch - and _enjoy_ - the NASCRAP and IRL races at Sonoma, Watkins' Glen and St. Petersburg (IRL only). Those were/are all entertaining races, year after year.

If NASCRAP management had any brains and wanted to kill off other openwheel racing series, they'd start running at some of the great road courses in the US: Road America, Road Atlanta, Mid Ohio, or even Mosport in Canada, among others. Hell, drop the second oval race at Daytona (keep the 500) and use the 3.5mile road course they use for the Rolex 24 Hour race, then watch the viewership climb.

I love F1 but I also like other forms of racing. I have watched Mascar but found it too long and quite honestly car pileups and crashes are not racing. Formula One is also a bit more international while Nascar quite frankly mostly caters to an American audience.

I love all racing, it's just that, with all of the variety of racing, why would one choose a series that is so low tech (carbeurators? didn't they use those in the 1970's?) and features driving that involves almost no gear changing, braking talent (yes, talent), or right hand turns? It's just mash it, turn left, and wait for the crashes. A true race fan hates to see crashes, in my opinion. NASCAR fans watch just for the crashes, you see the difference?
