My first patron goddess was Yemaya (African sea and mother goddess). Then Asherah (Semitic mother goddess) and Kuan Yin (Buddhist Bodhisattva of Compassion).

Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the hunt, "wild" nature, childbirth, and unmarried girls is definitely up there with me. I have always loved the way she never submitted to men and instead lived in the woods with her nymphs, protecting the forest. She is bold and doesn't let anyone mess around with her. I look to her for inspiration when I need more strength and courage.
Nephthys, an Egyptian Goddess who is Isis' sister, also really calls to me and has since I was in middle school. She is sort of night to her sister's day, and is more of a secretive Goddess. I look to her for many things, including restoring balance and dealing with grief (she had a very abusive husband, Set, who was barren and couldn't give her any children).

I really relate to Athena. As you said, she was the Goddess of Wisdom. She was a weaver and was creative, and I am, too. her bird was the owl, which I love. And she was not afraid to fight if she needed to, as she was the Goddess of Battle.
Also Odin, for many of the same values, but also magic and poetry.

I'm with Sekhmet, an Egyptian goddess of destruction and healing. The feminine energy, Sekhem, works in-depth to the cells and soul of the patient.

Actually a comic book hero: the Silver Surfer. He was banished to Earth and could never see his true love again. Also, he didn't fit in with the Earthlings as he was from another planet.
I can relate.

Well, as a witch, I familiarise myself with many deities, but at the moment, Pan seems to appeal to me very much, as does Persephone, and Gaia, the Earth Mother.
