If America nukes Iran - will the world sit by and watch?

Question

The US has changed the laws about pre-emtive nuclear stikes in the name of the war on terror. Bush no longer has to go to Congress to initiate a war he only has to sit through a 20 min advisory meeting that will allow him to use nukes on a non nuclear country Mini nukes are being sold as safe for civilain populations and as bunker busters for underground nuclear facilties.

If the US takes this bold step - will Russia and China just siot back and hope they are not next? Or will the international back lash happen in a very real very military stike against the US ?

In short how safe will the world be if the US attacks Iran using nukes? Would not other countries be justified in attacking the source that used such weapons? What would stop them it would be the Americans putting all nations of the world in a them or us situation - How long will China Russia and others ponder that before the US is only a histroy class with no need for geography?

I think US nuking Iran it will be too much...I really don't think Russia and China will allow it,but if it happens I am pretty sure that they won't just sit and watch...I think they are going to defend Iran,even if this means going at war with US...
As ,for the world being a safer place...it stopped being a safe place the moment US attacked Iraq and started threaten Iran...

Well, lets face it. That won't happen. This country does not have the backbone not the resources to start another war, nuclear or conventional. The people in my beloved country have the attention span and memory of a goldfish. We will pull out of Iraq, and it will be too soon, even if it is another 3 years from now. There will be a power vacuum in Iraq much like Afganistan in the early 90's, and Iran will in essence control 1/2 of the worlds oil.

Russia is loving every bit of this, look at how complacent they are on Iran now. They lul us into thinking they are a neutral party in this whole Iranian nuclear scare, when in fact, they are not only providing the scientist's to help the iranians develop nuclear bombs, but they are also buying vasts amounts of oil from them. Russia did not partner in the war in Iraq, because they paid Saddam $50 billion dollars for oil that stopped the moment we attacked.

With the US and Britian out of Iraq and the people in those countries not ready for more war, I believe that Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Led by the Russians will attack Israel and try to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth". The Arab nations have learned that they simply can not defeat the Isrealis on tier own, they need Russia's might involved. I believe China will sit back and see what happens.

Why would Russia attack Israel.Three points to ponder.
1) They need a warm water port into the entrance of the worlds oceans.The middle east offers that. Putin is the former director of the KGB who has removed the democratic process from Russia and at the same time, charmed the West into neutrality.
2) Russia needs oil to regain its status of superpower. Russia hungers for Arabian oil. They must have it to regain thier global status, which they lost after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
3) The mineral deposits of the Dead Sea are so great that they can not be properly appraised on todays market. It is estimated that the Dead Sea contains 2 billion tons of potasium chloride, which is potash needed to enrich the soil that is rapidly depleating around the world. The Dead Sea also contains 22 billion tons of magnesium chloride and 12 billion tons of sodium chloride. The wealth of the Dead Sea has the Russian bear salivating at the mouth.

I am not saying this is the Armegeddon, but it definately looks like we are heading towards a much bigger problem than this country is wanting to fight.

Pres.Truman used the atomic bombs despite the opposition from leading scientists and political thinkers of the time.because he wanted to scare soviet union.it served as a quick fix but it started the race by other countries like soviet union,France ,china and England to develop own nuclear arsenal it was later that Pakistan and India came into the arena along with Israel and north Korea,now on the brink are Brazil Argentina and may be some other countries.In politics and international affairs there are no Friends but only marriages of convenience.other wise not so many countries would have developed the nuclear weapons.At this point it will be an utter foolishness to use them by any state.Because the whole Human Race will be affected.

First of all I d not think that the USA needs to use nukes. That is so 1945! Nowadays we have neutron bombs and e-bombs. Those are just as effective but do not have the same radio-active problems.
Secondly, the Chinese and the Russians unlike the fanatics of Islam do not believe in scarifying this life for a better after-life, in other words, they are not suicidal. They will not react out of principle. They will also understand that out stance is a practical one and that just because we hit those that threaten us, it does not mean that we will hit everybody. So long as they understand that they will be allowed to profit from it, yes they will ust sit back and wait to reap the benefits. They are not afraid of use, they are more afraid of the Muslims and that is why they do not want to **** them off. They want to continue to profit from them until we hit them, then they will just demand their share. Sure, they will act all outraged and condemn us, but secretly they will have more respect for us

I'd much rather that they stand up and cheer.
If we don't exterminate the muslims they will surely exterminate us. My guess is we don't have the guts. Start learning Arabic and reading the Qur'an. In a couple of generations you're not going to have ANY rights, pal, including the right to voice your opinion. Enjoy this privilege while it lasts.

I think that it will be a joint dicission. The quartet has already told Iran that their actions are not acceptable like a little child.

That's only my opinion. But who ever starts the strike, there will be one September 12, 2006.
