Yes. Because it's important to distinguish between the philosophical ideal, and the political movement that uses that term as an indentifier.

Yes, "conservative" people and even the conservative ways of dealing the community is very relevant to enlightened political discourse, many people needs people like them because those who are liberal didn't know that they abused many people.
Being "conservative" in a political aspect reduces the tandems and the different failures where the society is.
Besides, the society must understood that it doesn't really matter why people seek for the higher value of life specially in terms of political values.
The more we seen about "conservative acts" in dealing the poor, the rich and the needy lessened the rivalry and the chivalrous monopoly inside the community.
"conservative acts" are:
a) preparing the time and the space in dealing with the society,
b) having some extra effort to understand the situation of what the community suffered from,
c) always on time when the society needs the answer from the political environment,
d) leaving the society clean and green.

Very relevant. What is less relevant perhaps are references to political parties. "Republican" and "Democrat" have lost their clarity, most certainly. Big spenders and social activists sometimes run as Republicans, though both of these characteristics are far from conservative. Tech business entrepreneurs (I live in Silicon Valley) who believe the governnment shouldn't comment on social issues, and love the free market are often Democrats - go figure! Conservatism vs. progressivism are very relevant for discourse, if only to see how each person defines them!

The problem with labels like conservative and liberal is that they disassociate any one person or view from the political process. Everyone is different, and I defy any conservative to find a liberal that they personally disagree with 100%, or vice versa. These labels are being used as weapons of both sides, and allow for the lazy to quickly jump on a political bandwagon without actually doing any research or thinking.

The Dictionary says:
1. disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.
Our nation was founded on some very liberal principles, such as freedom of religious expression, an individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms untouchable by Government, God-given Human Rights making all people equal, etc.
The people who try to preserve the founding principles are called Conservative. They tend to be ridiculed by today's liberal crowd that does not like to be bound by historical tradition or the letter of the law as written. Their code, that the Constitution is a 'living, breathing document' to be reinterpreted whenever convenient, rankles Conservatives.
Liberals like change for the sake of change, Conservatives prefer to maintain a tradition that provides 'normalcy'.
I think Libertarians are about the most Conservative folks you will find - strict adherents to the Constitution and Founding Principles.
