I have been on Depo since 2002, and I am now trying to come off of it for seveal reasons. Firstly, because I know of all of the side effects and secondly, I want to get pregnant withint the next year, and it's recommended you give your self up to a year to resume ovulation. My problem is that I'm having severe cramps for what seems to be no reason. Could this be a side effect of coming off of Depo? What are other possible side effects anyone knows of or has experienced coming off Depo?

I was on depo for 2 years and went off it when I got married. I have been off for almost 2 years, and have yet to get pregnant. Side effects that I have experienced are horrible mood swings, cramps, migraines, weight gain and my period is very erratic. I am usually 3 weeks late or I skip completely, then when I get my period it is very heavy and painful. I think depo is the worst. Check out this website, it's pretty helpful but all side effects are different person to person. Hope this helps :) http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/bcdepo.htm
