Keep the pantry door(s) open to allow fresh air to circulate - that will help reduce the odor if you give it a bit of time...
Did you wash out the trash can? Plastics hold onto odors longer than metal so maybe the odor penetrated the can? If so, use a solution of bleach and water to clean the can.
Are you sure some of the chicken didn't fall onto the floor and is quietly rotting away where you can't see it?
From here on out, do NOT keep your trash in the pantry! Pantries are or storing foods, not garbage. Garbage (trash) attracts bacteria, insects, rodents and smells. So, why would you want to subject the food you eat to that type of environment?

Get an empty spray bottle, wash it out, and put a small amount of coconut oil, and then fill the rest of the bottle up with vinegar, this should work, and it is great for spiders also.

Oust or one of those cone shaped Renuzit gel fresheners with the "Super Odor Killer" scent. Get a few of them and open them all the way. I had the same problem with a rabbit cage. A few of those Renuzit cones and some Oust did the trick for me. Good Luck!

What about a box of baking soda?
Arm & Hammer makes a special fridge/freezer box that opens on both sides to allow air to flow through. It seems to neutralize odors in small spaces pretty well, for me anyway.

Are you sure you don't have some electrical wiring in there that's getting too hot (in the walls?)
Something shouldn't smell burned.
Also don't use all those icky fresheners around food, they are not food-safe.
Put a bowl of vinegar in there til the odor diminishes.

have you tried spraying the area with white vinegar and letting it dry? It might help - bad odors are tough.
