I am not in the profession but I have given birth to 4 babies. Is this your first? If it isn't then it is totally natural for the cervix to be open a few centimetres. Labour can begin naturall and safely from 37 weeks. Induction these days is quite effective. I have been induced twice. Sometimes, in my opinion, your anxiety about the arrival of the baby can prevent the release or stem it of the oxytosics and prostoglandins needed for the onset of labour. Relax and know that it's going to be OK no matter how labour comes about. Put your feet up and relax. It wont be long either if you have lost some plug. Don't try so hard. If you become too much stressed you will interfere with your contractions and they will polarise(baby goes up not down). Soft music and herbal tea is what you need right now. Oh and BTW don't read some of those horror stories above me, every birth is different. I just hate it when people think it is just fine to tell horror stories to pregnant women.

all and sundry's journey is distinctive. some women human beings have very rapid labors or extreme soreness tolerance and don't require an epidural. Others are in exertions for over an afternoon or could be brought about. i became in exertions for approximately 26 hrs and that i became additionally given pitocin. i think of that if I wasn't given the pitocin i does no longer have mandatory an epidural, besides the indisputable fact that it makes your contracts come on very sturdy. they're going to turn down your epidural for the duration of transport so it is easy to experience some issues. merely attempt to kick back and not plan to lots and revel contained in the journey. he he i was in labor for 17 days!!!!!! between Jan 1 and Jan 17!! i think i know where you are coming from. usually doctors wont let you go past 2 weeks from your due date. if you aren't leaking any water then you shouldn't have to worry. little amounts i was told was no big deal like 1-2 tablespoons but if your looking at cupfuls you should go to a hospital immediately.

Try to be active. Lots of walking and very low stress activities. But ask your doc. I am sure she will know best. Good luck with your second!

If your water has broke why are you not at the hospital, I thought you could only go so long after your water breaks to have the baby.
