Ginger tea is an effective, and cheap home remedy. Just get some fresh ginger at your grocery store, grate it or chop it in small pieces (a tablespoon or two), put it in a coffee cup, pour boiling water on top, and drink when it cools down a bit. To sweeten, you can add a little maple syrup or honey. You can eat the ginger when you're done with the tea if you like. It's great for congestion and other cold symptoms. Drink as many cups as you like, and drink a lot of water.

what R the symptoms?
because theraflu works for me (apple cinnamon flavor is the best) with a common cold
but if you need to be presentable within an hour or so I suggest
allergy pills (the little pink ones) they don't get rid of it but they help if you are sneezing and have a runny nose so you can get through the day with out the problems of the cold (drowsiness is a side effect though)

Take Alka Seltzer Cold Plus.

I take it for 2 days straight when I get the itch in my throat (sign that I am getting a cold). I have not had cold symptoms for over 10 years.

But if you have the cold already, you have to wait it out for a week. Viruses have to run their course.

Take 1,000 mg of Vitamin C. It is water-soluble so you cannot overdose. Also drink lots of fluids, hot tea helps break up the mucous. Avoid dairy products as they are a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses. Rest and I hope you feel better soon.
