Are you conforming not to the way society dictates you should be and or indeed what you should have, but are living your life as your authentic self?

Gosh, thats a bit deep!! Im a half and half chick myself. I conform in many ways and in others I stick my two fingers up and say "fcuk you".

Im pretty happy with it tho. I do my thing enough to let me satisfy that part of me, whilst managing to pay my mortgage and do the mum thing and conform - to a degree!!!

Well it depends on how you see it - I might say that yes I am living as my 'authentic self' that simply happens to conform in some ways? Surely people do not consciously conform, it is the trend these days to be 'who you want to be' but there's little to rebel against these days. Goths have their groups, rappers theirs, egocentric people theirs, grocers, any people of any creed can find fellow like-minded people to mix with. It's EXPECTED these days. Living my life the way I want doesn't necessarily mean I am a rebel. I do what I want to do, not what I should do, perhaps some of it is 'against the norm', perhaps some of it is 'conformist'. It doesn't really matter.

Does that make sense?

No , if I could I would have travelled the world, had children, married my partner, opened a kennel and live in the country in an acre or 10 ! Oh well at least we've got each other and are in fair health with a roof over our heads and food in our stomachs. Am I living my life as I want .... no, but I am grateful for what I've got !

Yes, I am but there is always room for improvement. I read every self-help book there is and make goals so I may get rid of bad behaviors, and replace them with good, I choose not to allow societal dictates to tell me what I can or cannot do. I grew up in an ultra-conservative environment and am thankful for the educational experience but am very thankful to have the opportunity, and privelege to make my own decisions re. marriage, work, and religion. There are things I can do everyday to live life to the fullest like buying the cappucino you never get, petting my kitty...and then there is always bungee jumping, one of my goals.

Not I am not and I have been thinking about this a lot. I realize that to do the things you want to do (assuming they aren’t offensive things) you have to have a good strong self esteem and not care about the approval of others. It is not as easy as it looks – especially when you need people. Sometimes those who love you are not that supportive and doing things your way means hurting them. Not how it should be but my guess is that a lot of people struggle with this.

I live within the law,but i do not conform to the social mores.I've always did what i felt was right for me,as long as no-one else was hurt.A great way of getting me to do some-thing,is to tell me not to do it.I never follow Government advice on what to eat & drink, nor anything else fot that matter.Being yourself brings a great sense of freedom,i don't even have a religion.

On the whole I am happy with my life - I'm proud of myself for having the courage to walk out of an unhappy marriage and start again with nothing, living in a tiny flat with no apparent hope for the future. 18 months later I met a wonderful man who I'm now happy with. We have things we want to change and ways we hope our life together will go, but for now we have responsibilities, for example he has an elderly mother in poor health and we can't just live where we want to, because we want to be there for her. And there's work we have to do now, but in the future we hope to go in other directions.

We just know we can't have everything we want right now.

I have to admit I comformed to society for many many years till I really found my true self and it feels good to say that, "Yes, I am living my life as I want." God has shown me that what the world wants is not what we should want.

I am slightly unhappy that people think I never have to work for anything and everything is handed to me on a silver platter but for the most part I am living as I want...

i think of you reside existence through fact the style of your clashing selfs. all human beings has many distinctive selfs. those selfs are like distinctive human beings. a number of them would somewhat choose to spend continuously residing with those they love, some would somewhat choose to spend continuously with human beings they care approximately. Others would somewhat choose to possess a house with the help of the sea. all human beings of those selfs is authentic. all human beings of those selfs want something from themselves. So in that end, stay is lead as a determination of selfs who stay and spending their lives
