Though it's probably the who;e point of the genre, I can't stand the way they All have the samey look. The huge eyes, tiny mouths & noses, together w/ oddball colored spiky hair. Etc..

Yeah anime is weird....and most of the people that like it are obsessive about it.I do think there are some odd things about the cartoons and movies,(besides them not making ANY sense whatsoever). The sweat drop that is present through the entire show LOL, and the SWHINNNG! noise they make when the character jumps or pulls out a weapon. FUNNY STUFF!

Anime is a style, not a genre.

It is animation primarily done over in Japan. I do not like it when people stereotype it with being very colorful. Stop looking at the mainstream, poorly dubbed animes and please go to something else to base a real opinion off of.

Anime has many genres. You have super heroes, you have realistic love stories, horror, comedy, you name it.

It is unique. You can see extreme detail with most anime that goes into making hair look like it's shining from the sun or making clothes looked wrinkly and ruffled.

The sky looks like the actually sky and not some random, soild blue most American animators slap on a cartoon.

Most shows of Japanese animation also have a storyline that is able to be followed. You can watch characters grow and change, rather than random thirty minute episodes of some half-hearted simply done animated shows.

People like anime for various reasons. Because we're tired of computer animated films, because we want to try something new, or just because we can like it.

Your question made quite a few generalizations.

I see it like this. Say you dislike a certain movie. But does that mean all movies made in the same way or of the same genre are bad? No. It doesn't. While I don't care for, say, horror genres, I still indeed give them a fighting chance before I start overreacting and start to make false generalizations.

Ehem, what the hell are u talking about? The good anime's do not have huge eyes, tiny mouths or noses, they all look different, stop sterotyping. All the little kids animes are like that, but real anime have normal sized eyes and for cuteness they can have bigger eyes. Different colored hair and different stlyes is to make the characters look different so the dumb people can tell them apart. U have never watched an anime to begin with did u? cause if u did u would think this question is pointless.

its actually a rather old form of Japanese cartooning. Its been in America a lot longer than people think to..one of the earliest I remember was "the little prince" and the "Leo the Lion" series , and there was quite a few more from the seventies and eighties but I cant remember the names although I do remember that a lot had British accents and took place in dutch looking settings.
But a lot of the attraction I think is with the exotic themed stories the modern artists use today. Very sci-fi, and like most shows if you don't catch them from the beginning its hard to follow where the artist is taking you.

It would be nice to see some more of the traditional story lines come back into play. I think that there is a huge market being avoided simply because there is a lot of marketing to get out of the video game and card collecting market that has emerged from this art form.

Right now its sadly a craze like it was 10 years ago with Pokemon. It seems to come and go in America.
I've liked the genre since I was about 8 years old. I watch and buy the dvds and read and buy the manga. and yes I know there are freaks who go WAY overboard. I know a guy who dresses up as a freakin furry! With cat ears and a tail, everywhere he goes, it frightens me.
I think alot of people dont get it because they think cartoons are supposed to be for kids and because it has absolutly nothing to do with thier culture and Japanese culture is a very obscure and intricate thing. That doesnt and wouldnt make much sense to Americans. Because basically Americans are a bunch of prudes

nicely, teenage women comprise of basically about one 0.5 of all action picture theater goers. I talked about my 13 year previous niece tonight and all she ought to say replaced into Twilight this and Twilight that. Her mom thinks that is unusual she is counting down the days until eventually New Moon is released. We joked about it and tried to bear in mind after we were youthful and if there have been an same situation. we extremely couldn't, because there's a lot saturation of television and the web on the instantaneous, which failed to exist after we were her age, years in the past. We both remembered some action picture crazes, yet no longer some thing like this. that is the promotion, which has develop into savvier on account that that element and the quantity of media. after we were starting to be up, there replaced into no cable television or information superhighway.

I do not like a good portion of manga or anime, yet I do not like a good portion of most comics. By that same token, I will not allow xenophobia and racism rule my ability to enjoy a good story.
I have personally read many Japanese produced comics and seen anime's with highly detailed art and realistic storylines.
If you are seeing things that are all the same, maybe it is because your point of input is not changing. If you saw more than kiddie show toy ad anime on the cartoon channels, then perhaps you would not have the same view.

Though I doubt it, most people like you already know that there is diverse and different anime and manga out there, just like comics... they just pretend it does not exist to extend their own agendas of hatred and ignorance of other cultures.

I agree with you. Some of my friends think they are good looking. How can a picture be sexy? I think it is weird looking. It is a very odd art, but you have to appreciate all art forms. I think people are too obsessed though. I agree it all looks the same, but I have talked to people who draw it and they say it is very different. The only thing that I could compare it to is that to us all bullfrogs look the same but to bullfrogs they look different. I guess that was a stupid comparison but you really have to understand it to understand how each character is different.

I do not get it. I love the Japanese, do not get me wrong, but Anime is strange to me. I love my American Comics and animation because they do not all look the same and they all have different personalites. Everyone is different and unique. With the Anime characters, they all look the same. When I look at the American Comics and Animation, I can feel the characters.
