Check into a problem called aspurgers.the name is not a joke, just look it up on web MD or something. Just a thought. Children with this problem are sometimes misdiagnosed with ADHD.

It sounds as if it's a behavioral problem. She needs to get some counseling along with seeing a doctor. My daughter is 8 and has depression and adhd and just started seeing a counselor/ We had been dealing with the same issues as you since she was 2 or 3. We are still in the process of finding the right meds but the counseling is helping. Good luck.

It's not surprising that at the young age of seven your daughter gives you trouble. I think that their could be mutiple reasons for her acting out. Certainly the absence of her dad is one, but sometimes children have a mind of their own, and start to shape a personality by the age of seven. I don't agree with medication for children so young because it may be the easy way out. I do think she could benefit from professional help from a child psychologist. Having someone so close to her in the family with a bi-polar condition could also be a reason for her acting out. I do believe any type of depression especially bi-polar is hereditary..I also have been diagnosed with bi-polar, and I know quite a few family members who suffer from depression. She seems to act bad around you but not at school. I think it could be because school does'nt threaten her, and she feels happy, and comfortable with the other kids. I would however hold off on medication. When you get a clear diagnosis then maybe medication might help. I'd hate to see a child that age become dependent on it. I do commend you for noticing her problem, and taking action. Their is nothing worse than a troubled child growing into adulthood with a problem such as your daughter's when help was available but not sought. Good luck.

She might need love and attention, I know it sounds simple. And I know it gets difficult to exercise as you are going through many other difficulties. But the investment that you make to her the next couple of years with uninterrupted love and attention and guiding her might make your relationship much easier in the long run. I don't think there are short cuts, quick remedies for this problem. Consistency is important in her life.Find the courage to practice this.

I would have her checked out by a doctor. Sounds like she has behavior problems and may need medications.Getting her the help she needs will change her life and yours for the better.
