Driving there everyday is not a problem. And I would rather not have to board.

I drive 37 miles to my work, and then my wife drives another 9 miles. Some days, we both take cars because of conflicts in our schedules. I have a couple friends where I work who live near where I do, and they both take their own cars because their schedules are hardly ever in synchrony.
We are not the record holders for commuting, either.
If you don't mind the drive to school and back, I'd say go for it. It might cost you less in the long run to pay for gasoline and wear on the car, especially if you still live with your folks and they will support you with a roof over your head and food to go with it while you attend, as mine did.

25 miles is pretty close for commuting. It is the way to go if you're looking to save money from housing, utilities and food costs. If you want the full college experience meeting new people and having some fun away from home, you should consider living in a dorm...at least for the 1st year and possibly the 2nd.

If you don't want to, then don't. Are most of the students at this school commuters or do they live there? If there are a lot of commuters, you should fit in well. If most people live on campus and that's how they socialize, it may be more difficult for you. 25 miles is not that far, though.

The drive-time will give you time to reflect and review -- to think and plan things through. Don't let a cell phone distract you -- keep it as a sacred time that belongs just to you!
