I was a collector when I was growing up. I stopped while I was in university. I've regained an interest again but really haven't gotten back into it.

My father and I are both avid collectors. He has been collecting seriously since about 1969, and I have been ever since I was old enough. We have complete Topps sets back to 1971, with lots of partials before that. We also have a number of Donruss, Fleer, Upper Deck, Bowman, Score, and some others.
It's an enjoyable and somewhat expensive hobby, but we both enjoy it. Many people make the mistake of looking at it as an investment, but there are much better ways to invest your money. So if you do become a collector, do it for the love of the sport and the hobby.
That's not to say you can't make some money, though. We enjoy going to card shows, usually as buyers, but sometimes we will set up a booth to sell our partial sets and chase cards.

I started collecting baseball cards when I was a small kid, around 1966. Still collect them to this day!! Its fun to collect a whole team, or an entire set. To find out the old ones you have are worth money is an extra added bonus.

I've been collecting since 1967. It can be a lot of fun ,especially if you share the hobby with your son or father. Enjoy!
