You just go to the court house and then to the clerks office and ask for a date for the judge to marry you two. It is that simple. Have a wonderful married life and one day you will be in a position to give yourselves a wonderful delayed ceremony. I am about to marry too and we are having a small wedding, yet the dress alone cost just under a thousand dollars and it is not an expensive one either. I found it at David's Bridal. So, I know how you feel regarding how expenive this is. I hate how much this costs but we both want something special. My first husband and I were married by our church pastor in a small ceremony and a nice church lady made a dress for me and the church put on a small cake and punch gathering after wards. It was all very sweet and I deeply appreciated all of the efforts, but this time I do want the dress and all. I understand. Do find the way some day to do the ceremony though as it really is special. perhaps you will decide on down the road that you can forgo the expense of a wedding ceremony after all. If that is true don't feel bad as it IS a lot of money which could well be used else where, like a down payment on a house of your own. Put your priorities in order as you are and you both will do well in life together. Have a very happy wedding and a great life and marriage.

You can be married by a judge or county clerk, depending on where you live and what the state law is. Some places you can arrange for a wedding at the location of your choice--others require weddings take place at the courthouse during business hours.

A call to your county courthouse will take a few minutes and answer all your questions about procedures and costs.

jill, for gods sake please dont get married at the court house. not knowing where your state you can talk to a minister to come to your house or to a park anywhere. for minimum cost. you no doubt have seen notary public signs here and there or in the phone book alot of states are like florida will accept a lisc. notary and they will vary in cost but are considerably cheaper then a full blow wedding and can do it with more style then the jp thats an awful feeling leaving the court house with every one knowing you couldnt afford a big wedding..... you will remeber this day as your wedding day do somthing more then the least please good luck and best wishes to you and yours....

why not wear the dress, there are millions of dresses out there and in a few years you might find one you like better.but for this special moment, even though you plann a bigger one down the road, you will have only one first wedding and what you wear to your first wedding will always have alot more meaning then the full scale wedding. and also in a few years when you redo it who is to say you dont add to this dress. (like having a seamstress add on some hand sewn pearls or anything else to update the dress later for another wedding thus creating a new look and having "somthing old" ) damn i almost feel like i belong on queer eye . i am a straight male talking like i know somthing about fashion lol . any how im going to add on somthing else to i learned about doing a cheap wedding most stores sell this premade cake topping that is smooth when you lay it over the cake then you can decorate it extremely cheap way to have a huge cake (walmart). my bride and i did our wedding and honeymoon for under 2 k and about 1,100 of that was the honey moon..... you have the dress already so you have us by a few hundred already we did alot of ebay and relying on family to help with the planning

Usually you have to get registered and then go see the JP/ magistrate. I got married that same way and I will have the wedding that I always want when the time gets right or should I say when the money gets right.. Good Luck. Call the court House or the register of deeds office.

You must get a license from your state or county office. We went to a neighboring county and bought the license at the county court house. We asked them when is the nearest Justice of the peace. It was a lawyer's office very close by we walked there. Took our license. He signed. We took it back to the courthouse to have it recorded. This was 9 years ago. I think, the license cost $15.00 and the JP about the same. Sweet and simple! Call your local courthouse and ask them the price of the license in your state and where & who the JP's are in your town.

Me and my husband just got married 3 weeks ago this monday. We were in the same boat...so we just went to the court house. We filled out the paperwork for our marriage liscense and a judge married us. We had to have our driver liscense and birth certificate. (and divorce papers if been married before) Here it cost us 69.00 -but we could have got it for 38.00 if we would have went to the marriage class.

i've got been married two times in the previous, so i don't care if i don't marry returned, yet I won't say that I "won't" marry returned...it fairly is not a concern in any respect, yet i could prefer to have somebody to proportion my existence with... i've got been single for an prolonged time now (the extra suited component to the previous 11 yrs) so i'm gentle with it in simple terms being me, if it rather is how something of my existence is going...I even have friends and relatives and pursuits, so it fairly is in no way boring (yet each and every each and every now and then it gets lonely)...

Any judge or minister can perform the ceremony. Most of them change a small fee, or might even do it for free, just ask then what the fee is.
