There is no easy answer to this question. She may want to do what is right but not yet have the ability. In this case she needs prayer. On the other hand there are a lot of people that don't really understand that faith takes action and what we do shows where we stand, Yet even biblical characters have fallen time and again just look at David and God called him a man after his own heart. What matters is where her heart is and that is between her and God.

What people often don't realize is that church is for sinners and not saints. If we were saints we wouldn't need to go to church.
Unfortunately, some people think they are better and more righteous than everyone else. There are also people who go to church to socialize or show off their new wardrobes or see how everyone else is dressed or who is even there so they can gossip about it later. People don't realize when they do these things they are putting them before God - which is the whole reason for going to church - to worship and commune with our Creator. Some of them may not even realize they are doing these things.
Now the question is, are they worse sinners than the rest of us because they do these things? No, but it certainly doesn't help them with their spiritual growth or getting closer to God which is what we should concentrate on.

Going to church will never make a person religious. If a person believes in God and has a personal relationship with Him, that is the only way.

Because that no matter what they do, they believe they will go to Heaven when they die. Christianity is based on the belief that Christ died for our sins. We have a saying in our family, Confession on Saturday, Church on Sunday, Kill on Monday. I don't believe in that statement. One way or another we will pay for our sins.

We don't go to church because we are perfect, we go to work towards it, and learn to get as close to it as possible. Jesus is the perfect one, but we can only strive for that until we are judged at the pearly gates. We are only human, and we all have our faults, but it is weather or not we choose to keep God in our hearts.

No one is perfect. The bible teaches that a person is defined by what they do, not what they say. A tree is known by the fruit that it bears. I wouldn't put too much weight in what people say/claim (loving Jesus). Jesus said it himself...If you love me, you will keep my commands. Sooo remind her of that.

in my area we call that a 'one hour catholic'. These people are religious for the one hour a week that the Mass runs. the other 6 days you would never know they followed a religion. How sad.
