I understand that they experienced nightmares after their experience and a couple of weeks later went to a psychiatrist and underwent memory regression which uncovered ''time-loss" and the abduction.
Barney died a few years afterward (five or less years, if I remember right) of ''natural causes."
Betty went on the UFO speaking circuit.

They went home and went to sleep. They both began, over the course of years, to have horrible nightmares. One or both of them evetually went to psychiatric help, partly for marriage counseling. One or both of them had hynotic regression. They eventually divorced. Betty did the ufo circuit for a while. Barney didn't want to talk about it to anyone.

Several Psychiatrist have determined they they were suffering from a delusional disorder, and the abduction never really happened.
