Yahoo needs to add a "threat of suicide" listing to the abuse menu?

Not just in polls and surveys, I'm all over the place, I've seen quite a few today. I'm not exactly a hall monitor...ever read my Q's or A's? It's just disturbing that some of these may be serious, some are obviously jokes, but c'mon, there MUST be something that can be done...and I don't just mean delete the question...

Well I hope that people are only kidding when they say that. Even tho its not something to kid about, i hope people aren't realy for real about it. Yahoo deffinatly needs to do something about it like moniter it better or whatnot. but someone has to do something. is there a way to report that person? idk i'm only a couple days new here but i have answered many questions

and what? just have the question deleted? what's that going to accomplish? we are all on here to get others' points of view and opinions. Maybe some of us have been suicidal and we could help someone else by relating our experience and what helped us through it. I understand we have professionals who have been 'trained' to help suicidal people - but let me state this -- As a smoker I would never ask a nonsmoker's advice on how to quit, as a parent I would never ask for advice on child rearing tips from someone who has never had a child.

I hate to say this but I agree. That is too serious of a problem for it to be dealt with in this or any other public forum. That's why our society has a professional avenue set in place with people that have the training and education to deal with this part of the human physic.

This is polls and surveys. It is meant to be lighthearted and fun. If someone is threatening suicide on 'polls and surveys' they are probably joking! I don't think we need more Hall monitors! Rock on!

i agree---you NEVER know what you say the impact it may have on anothers life--i think this new yahoo answers is a great idea--you can ask alot of questions and get different view points from people you don't know--so i think its great--but i do think that section needs added because if someone makes a comment about suicide you never know what response may hit their heart and maybe save their life--good thinking--maybe they'll check into that: )

Nahh,... if they REALLY wanted to kill themselves they wouldn't post it here. They'd just go on out and do it or, if they wanted help or attention, they'd go to a more public and personal location where many "flesh and blood" people are at to express their need for help.

You know,... like a bridge or building ledge.

I think it's just people getting a "rise" out of everyone. They're doing it for their idea of "fun" just to see how everyone would respond.
