i have a five year old shorthair female guinea pig. She had one litter of pups when she was eight months old, but that's it. Latley I've been worried about her because of her age. Is there anything that I could do to make her live a bit longer?

Lots of fresh air, clean dry bedding, fresh clean water every day, good guinea pig pellets, fresh timothy hay daily, and most important VITAMIN C every day. Buy the liquid vitamin C they make for children (500mg/teaspoon). Give about 25 mgs per day, or 1/4 of a dropperful. As soon as your g.p. learns that is tastes so good, she'll be grabbing the dropper out of your hands! Don't put vitamins in the water, they don't last long enough to do any good.

They can for 5 to 7 years. I have heard of them living for 11 years.

Make sure her cage is clean, she has fresh water and food, give her fresh fruit sometimes and if you have birds, don,t let her get around them

fresh water everyday...clean cage often...fresh food...nice treats... NEVER feed her bread...only feed her guinae pig food - mine ate bread and died :'(...she probably has 5 more years left :\ oh ya and let her run around a bit...making sure there are no food particles or small objects she can easily swallow...

Feed her for openers.
