I believe that people are not actually evil but have been taken over by evil demons or some kind of negative possession. For instance, I saw a 5 year old child chasing and tormenting a 3 year old child at a mall. I was on the second floor, more than 60 feet away from the kids, and there was a moment when the 5 year old looked up into my eyes with such a malevolent stare that I had to look away. The child was not evil however there was a force inside him that was inherently evil.
Another example is if someone causes the hair on the back of your neck to stand up just merely by them being in your presence. Perhaps they have been involved in so many things that were bad that their energy was bad. It happens.

Wow! That's what I was going to say and then I clicked on your question and read the details. That is how I define evil is a person who has no conscience. If you look it up in the dictionary you'll see a picture of my sister-in-law next to the word.
I also like what "DonSoze" said.

I read that in a magazine a couple of years ago. People who study EVIL people said in the magazine that really, really BAD people do not see the world as we see it. For example, if you wear a red dress; they see a different color. People THINK it is because their brains are not "wired" like the rest of us, i.e. they do not know what they do EVIL is not ok with the rest of us. Worse, it greatly excites them when they do evil.
In the movie Rambo 2, a horseseller said to Rambo "God must love crazy people." Rambo replied "why is that?" and the horseseller said "because he makes so many of them!"
How true. Keep in mind that they are in the very small minority. Only they get in the news so we think there are many.

Evil exists to balance out good. Ying Yang type thing. As for people being evil, their own desire for power, recognition, and money are the top "donaters" for evil. Evil is also along the lines of "beauty is in the eye..." What you consider evil, I may consider ok..even normal behavior.

That to me seems like it would be part of it.There is a show called "Most Evil".A psychiatrist rates the degree of evil on the serial killers. He takes into account, planning, torture, no remorse, enjoyment of evil act,and some other things. Its a pretty interesting show.

too few spankings -when an infant
too few "painful" learning experiences - from teenager on
too few consequences for actions
"Evil" is a preoccupation with oneself at others expense
....just like a baby....selfcentered infantile behavior
conscience is a learned concept; learned hopefully, by the "age of reason".....the ability to distinguish "right" from "wrong"
Such people that are "amoral" , "immoral" , didn't or couldn't learn that life lesson...some would say that they aren't really human-closer to animals....but they are worse than animals...animals operate on instinct..."evil" people choose to act that way.....I would contend they are therefore...some kind of
sub human sub species

That has always been a hard one for me to understand to, on how our conscience wouldn't let us do such things, and others act like its nothing, no feelings or remorse. Sorry I can't be of any help, but I understand what you are saying.

I don't think that anyone is actually pure evil. Most of the people you're talking about just refuse to think about the consequences of their actions and thus take responsibility for themselves.
A far smaller quotient actually takes joy in destruction and the suffering of others (i.e. sadists and sociopaths); however, I think even these people are usually fulfilling a personal need or agenda which may resemble evil, but is not the same thing.
If you can think of any examples of someone who you think is evil, please cite them and describe why you think they are 'evil'. Would love to discuss further.
