You would have to refrase youre Question, today he cant be the gr8est Basketball player, because he aint a player no more, Now if you mean all NBA history, hes top of the line for sure

too bad not many people know nba history...consider this...mj started winning championships only when bird, magic and jabbar faded from the scene,,,,bill russell played in 12 championship series in his 13 year nba career and won 11 of them...and he did this as a contemporary of wilt chamberlain and was a good 5 inches shorter too...russell is the only player with more championship rings than fingers...time to recognize true greatness....please do some research before you try to show you know basketball
