The teacher might let you get away with things she wouldn't let others get away with. For example, if you ask for one more day on a homework assignment and she gives it to you without penalty, but then takes points away from someone else for doing the same thing, then you know.

I taught for 30 years, and I never had a "teachers pet". But I can tell you how to become someone a teacher likes: 1) do what you're told, 2) show a good, positive attitude, 3) pay attention in class 4) volunteer answers during review, 5) don't become a discipline problem, 6) get good grades on your test. 6) have a pleasant, friendly personality.

Teachers, in general, don't have favorites. To a teacher, all the kids are special favorites. But they do like to see the qualitites above. I treated all students the same, but if they developed a history of a certain bad behavior, their discipline might be more severe, as it should be.

Teachers are very fair-minded people.

But they definately have a list of least favorite students...you don't want to be one of those. So watch it. You get there by doing the opposite of what I wrote above.

And lastly, I have to tell you from extensive experience, the highest correlation between good test scores and student performance was this: The students who do what they are told to do by their teachers nearly always end up with the highest test scores. Notice I do not say "grades". I'm talking test scores, the only measure of true learning.

Chances are, if you are wondering if you are a teachers favorite, thatn a teacher has already done something to give you that idea. When a teacher lets you get away with things , and you know that they know you did or didn't do it, or they give youthings they don't give others. You can tell to, by the way they look at you sometimes.

If when you get a detention you can tell a blatant lie to him/her and s/he will take it away (I'm tired of the PC-ness, I'm just going to say she). Or for example my sis got caught being part of a copying ring (not a lot, just as much as anyone else in HS) and the teacher said that unless they stopped doing it he would report everyone, except her. So yeah, then you'd know.

if your teacher still says hi to you after 2 years.

i don't know about favorite among all, but if your teacher greets you in the halls or lets you break a minor rule, then you're favored

the teacher will take your side in classroom disputes, but more than that (and this is the real sign) she will be willing to defend you to other teachers and even the principal, even if it means having a fight with them. She will also share her snacks with you, and maybe even lend you money.
