If you were president how would you attempt to fix the economy?

Let the tax dollars follow the child,and then each school would have to compete for the child.And not follow the teacher,thus building competition for each school to persuade the parents of that child to send them to thier school

I would legalize marijuana, put restrictions on it similar to the ones already used with alcohol and I would also tax it. Since the government already taxes everything we have already one more thing won't hurt huh. My restricitions would be as follows: Age 21 to consume or purchase, Driving Under the Influence would still be regulated, only punishments wouldn't be as harsh, workplaces would make their own decisions as far as if marijuana could be consumed while at work (mainly since I would have a test that could tell if someone was stoned at that very moment rather than a UA, since that can trace back a month and is less accurate. I also believe that it would steady out and in some cases decline since there are those out there that do it only for the thrill of dodging the man. As far as the "gateway" drug thing is concerned, yeah that is true but I have been through that gateway and back and I am not afraid to say that smoking pot is the only drug I do (besides cigarettes occasionally), I quit everything else when I realized how stupid doing them was. I really think if marijuana was legalized our econmy could at least stabablize rather than help the rich get richer while the poor get screwed.

what is happening in America with the very money made of its very own back, thanks to it being a free country is stark obvious

firstly, your country has lost the true meaning of free.

for example all the offshore banking is a FAD which means most of the money you would be getting taxes from is just outside your doorstep but you cant touch it.

you import from countries who have NO free trade commitment like you do. These are China, Saudi Arabia and others. This means they hold onto your dollars and coax you to make your debt deeper and end up black mailing you for privileges such as letting them buy loads of property and corporations in your country. You nearly lost your own ports forever!

Your government is too big and loose and doesn't know how to shuffle power from the countries it imports. For example America can simply invest one billion dollars in Ethiopia, Nigeria and other African countries to utilize the cheaper workman ship, thus balancing the import-export power of china's cheap workforce.

etc etc etc!!

your gov needs to set up a task force to tackle these points!

on a good note though, America is doing astoundingly well in Agriculture and they should dwell on this point!

I would demand that big businesses that has that big tax break lower their prices on everything starting with oil. That in turn would promote more spending by the populace and less by the military. I would stop all wars unless it was a matter of national security such as an invasion. I would also grant Mr. Bush a pardon for his criminal activities during his administration if he apologizes to the people........

I would cut the military budget by 75%. I would use the savings to balance the budget, start paying down the national debt, and fund enough public works projects to make F. D. Roosevelt proud. Especially power plants and refineries.

Set income tax for every earner over 30,000, at 10%, allowing deuctions only for dependents.
Eliminate all capital gains tax.
