Having witnessed hundreds of arguments and attitudes, it appears that many people believe the person whose opinion is different to theirs is stupid. If you think the other person is stupid and they dont know it, then how can you know you are not the same? Surely they dont think that they are stupid or are aware of it, therefore if they are unable to know that they are stupid then it would also make it impossible for you to tell if you are stupid, so how do you know that you are not the one that is stupid and is unable to know it, and not them, if a stupid person cant tell that they are stupid and actually thinks they are intelligent?

this may not answer your question directly, but psychologist have found out a long time ago that human beings are not rational thinkers, especially when it comes to self-evaluation. Most individuals tend to think they are smarter than average, more talented than average, will have a better future than most, even though that makes absolutely no sense. The best explanation for this, is that thinking that you are more intelligent than most helps protect one's self-esteem. So when people's attitudes and beliefs are challenged, they would rather stick to their guns because it makes them feel better about themselves, being proved wrong can be damaging to one's self-worth. hope that helps! there are a lot of old social psychology studies pertaining to this particular question!

Awesome question! I think this all the time, but not just about stupidity, everything. Everything is just perception. Even if you get tested and have a high IQ, many say that IQ tests are biased, don't count for all kinds of intelligence, etc.
Personally I think we live in a bizzaro world where nothing is as it seems or should be.

How do you know that you're not just a brain in a vat being prodded with electrodes, that every sensation you experience is not merely a complex manipulation?
You don't. It would be impossible to prove existance of anything beyond yourself, including the relative intelligence between yourself and a, possibly imagined, other party. It's not even truly possible to prove the existance of the self since you would have nothing "else" to contrast with it.
At least, that's the best answer I can give for a question in the psychology category.

I believe I am not stupid because I have good self esteem. And just because someone else has a different opinion than mine does not mean they are stupid either. They could be stupid for an entirely different reason.

If Person Nr.1 thinks that Person Nr. 2 is stupid for having a different opinion then Person Nr.1, then Person Nr. 1 is the stupid one.

Run that by me one more time...I actually had to read it twice..I 'm not the smartest person but I'm not stupid either..I would never think just because I didn't agree with someones answer that they were stupid..Not everyone agrees..But I know what your saying..Some people think that only there answer is the right one and that everyone else's answer is stupid..To me there the stupid one if they think that there answer is always got to be right..

good question, i've thought about that for other situations (like that annoying person every group of friends has, but doesn't really like) however in this case, i have a piece of paper certifying that my IQ is 139.

Yourself. You can't see outside of your own head, your perception is always going to be infuenced by yourself. So, you can't see things objectively since seeing things is a subjective act.
