I hope to be the same as my dad was to me. Tough when necessary, but ALWAYS loving. I hope I give my daughter reasons to say "Thanks, Dad!"

I hope she learns honesty, respect, and humility.

I'm sure my wife will help out as well. ;)

First, including myself only three men actually responded to this question. What women want from men isn't the moderators question but what men want from themselves.
I say this only to make women understand that what you want must match what he wants. You and him can not want to match what you want.
Second,
the question should not be of hope. The question should be what father you will be. A man should know himself. While I am young and still rocking in the water, I still am up in the air about this and that. But to come back, if a man does not know himself how can he be the teacher , disciplinarian, confident and freind he needs to be (in unison with the mother) for the child to develop well.
I have seen children show parents the reality of themselves and sometimes it is not pretty.
So I would hope to be a good father but I would rather know myself and then know how I will raise my child. Ohhh, mentoring and tutoring are the best ways I know to find out about yourself in a fatherly role.

I plan on being the father I never had. My mom divorced when I was young and my grandfather was my roll model. He was a hard working farmer in Iowa. I've learned that a hard days work pays off and to treat people the way you want to be treated. If you want something done right, do it yourself. Life isn't about you and you can't take everything with you when you die.

I now have four beautiful children and would do anything for them. I will teach them and guide them in the right direction and let them know that they can ask me anything.

If I have them, which is unlikely, I'd teach them to be good students and to be well mannered, neat etc.
