No one, NO ONE can tell me that abortion should be a "choice" for women and make me believe it. I know for some women it's hard to talk about the subject because they may have experienced it, but don't you feel that something has to be done? I know you pro-choice people out there realize deeeeeep down there that abortion is wrong. You have no right to take the life of an innocent child. That child could be the one to discover the cure for cancer and other sicknesses. Don't think that I'm some stupid person who doesn't know anything. I have done research. I KNOW what I'm talking about. Please, concider the millions of innocent lives inside their only protection-their mother. You can't even imagine being a helpless baby inside your mother, the only protection you have and she wants to get rid of you. I don't want to be harsh, but I know I need to show my view on this vital subject. I'm praying for the un-born, are you?

Yes, a fetus is a living human being. The word "fetus" means life in Latin. Don't tell me that abortion should be legal. DON"T YOU DARE!

For one thing, abortion is the most selfish act a person can commit. I am one of 6 kids, I wouldn't want any of them gone from my life. No one can tell me that abortion is not painful to the fetus or the mother. I met a person who had an abortion. She still feels horrible pain.

The world is not "OVERPOPULATED." Only selfish people see it that way, I'm sorry to say. So, what? You want to kill some people off like Hitler did, only through abortion? Besides that, everday someone dies and his life is replaced by another.

Alright you guys, I wish that I could let you see the way I see abortion. Please don't think that I'm trying to make you think the way I do. I just want you to see. You were a fetus wants. When someone says a fetus is only a tissue, it's like saying you were just a tissue.

And you who, mister Rochester, make up your mind, is the fetus a baby or not alive. You keep using both words. Plus, you're saying that first the baby is dead while they're inside their mothers and when they're born, all the sudden they're alive.

A fetus is not an "it." I'm getting really tired of having to tell you that. Go to PlannedParenthood.com and find out all the lies they're telling pregnant mothers.

This is how God made living to work:
Unless you plan on being single, a man and a woman who are in love are meant to get married and have kids unless they are unable. It may sound like a frank, boring explaination but it's called procreation. Look it up.

These are all old arguements.
A fetus is not a human being. That's why it has a BEATING HEART 18 days after fertilization, and BRAIN WAVES 6 weeks after fertilization. Abortions cannot even be performed until after 6 weeks. So this fetus, with a heart that beats the same as any human being and brain waves that support brain activity (yes, even-- gasp! thinking) just as every human on this planet... well, it's just a tissue. No value. No purpose. 'It' should be given no chance at life.
Even if this 'fetus' that miraculously becomes a human being (just like magic!) after it leaves it's mother were given the chance at life, it might as well be dead anyway, since it could be born into poverty. One less human being overpopulating this planet. Good riddance.
So... tell me, all you intelligent people out there, who is the one forcing their views on others?
Oh, and by the way, if you've done all your 'research', have you bothered to 'research' how abortions are performed?

Those mothers who can't support a child can't possibly utilize the option of adoption. Not at all. They can't give these unwanted children to thousands of couples around the world (and particularily in this country) who want them so desperately. And you terribly intelligent people are telling me that I'm selfish.
I am selfish because I see an alternative to killing babies. I am selfish because I believe that every human should be given a chance at life.
But then again, I have to keep reminding myself that you terribly intelligent people refuse to accept, even given clear evidence and facts, that a 'fetus' is indeed a developing human being. That's what makes you so intelligent: many of you claim to have an open mind, wishing to accept new things, and yet refusing to accept what has been proven and stubbornly sticking to the same lame claims.
I honestly feel sorry for you.

I love how you terribly intelligent people insult me by telling me that you're bigger and smarter than me. Sure. Smarter than me. That's why you can't contradict me with cold hard facts. That's why you can't prove anything with research. I guess you must be smarter than me.
And if you don't want a debate, then why are you arguing? Go about your business. I'm sure you have much more important things to do.
But then again, you can continue to intimidate and insult me, that's definitely going to change my mind. You can continue to use the same arguments over and over again. Why do you think I posted this question? I wanted answers. Not insults, intimidation and silly contradictions. Unfortunately, you can't give me answers. You can't give me facts. You can't give me evidence that you are right and I am wrong.
Too bad.

You all think these beliefs are based on Religion? Well, what about morality? It's just wonderful and convenient to dump birth control inside ourselves and be able to have everything we want to go the way we want. I'm finished then. If none of you have real facts and have done all the research to prove me wrong, I don't see it. It's enough. Just go on and believe what you believe, kill children for you own pleasure. Have sex and dump drugs in your body. Yeah, I keep getting the "it's my body" well, it's the way your body works. Sex was made for procreation AND pleasure. You decided that it was only for the latter.

Abortion should be legal there's no doubt in my mind. I've done my research as well. There are many scenarios you can go through where some the abortion is right and some the abortion is wrong. If the baby is a total accident and the family cannot support it than an abortion might be the right choice. Otherwise to me it's not fair for the baby to live a life of misery when it's not their fault. Now if the baby was conceived out of stupidity and unsafe sex than the mother should have the baby as a consequence for her actions. If the mother cannot support the baby than adoption is always an alternative. When it really comes down to it though it is up to the mother to decide. And to me, it might sound harsh, but until the baby can create thoughts or even emotions, the baby is not "helpless" inside the mother's womb. I also agree with the belief that everything happens for a reason. If God intended the baby to not be born that is the way it will happen. Otherwise there would be no miscarriages either.

I must say that I dont consider myself pro-choice. And it sounds like you are looking for an argument not an answer, but I will try to answer your question anyway. I am pro-life, but, I do believe that there are some reasons why abortion needs to be legal in some instances. Although it is not in the majority of cases, some abortions are performed for medical reasons. Even if a woman tries to prevent pregnancy, she sometimes gets pregnant. If she has a medical condition that risks her health and life by being pregnant, than she should be able to choose to have an abortion. There are numerous women who develop diseases like cancer during pregnancy and have to choose to either delay treatment until after the baby is born (greatly reducing their chances of survival) or having an abortion and beginning treatment immediately. This is a horrendous choice for a mother to have to make. However, she should have a choice. It may not be best to bring a child into the world when there mother will be dead in 6 months. Second, many unborn babies have serious birth defects or problems that would make their short lives on earth a living hell. For example, if a child's heart is completely undeveloped or mis-developed such that he will have to be on machines to live immediately after birth and will only be able to survive a few months without a transplant (AND heart transplant patients life expectancy is 5-10 years IF the transplant is successful, which only 50% of them are). There is no reason to bring a baby into the world to be tortured. It is the more loving act to not put the child through that. To me, if you birth that baby it is for your own selfish reasons. No person would opt to live that life. In addition, there is the issue of child abuse and rape. If your 11 year old daughter was raped and got pregnant, would you want her to go through the ordeal of a pregancy and birth? It would be incredibly traumatic for her and she would most likely NEVER recover from that even if the baby was given up for adoption. And what if the baby was not? That is an even scarier prospect. Your daughter's life would probably be ruined having to be a mother at 11 is impossible. The list really does go on, but those are the biggest reasons for me. I believe that abortion in most cases is wrong. But all abortions should not be illegal. I wont go into more reasons (little girls cutting themselves open with coat hangers, the foster care system, children starving, etc,) because you probably wont agree with them, but I hope that you wil consider what I said. You have to think about the reality of the circumstances that women and children are in. It matters.

Because women need to be able to control this aspect of their lives. I have a hard time believing that it is better to bring an unwanted child into the world than terminating an undevelpod fetus. The crappy thing is that there area a lot of these horribly self-rightous pro-lifers who like to tell people what they can and can't do. Funny thing is that I don't see them rushing around tryijng to adopt all the unwanted minority children in foster homes. Nor do I see them taking up a collection to pay for some poor single woman who's living paycheck to paycheck while putting herself through college to support herself through and after her pregnancy. See, it's the little things like this that these militant self-important ******* don't think of. "Oh, you can put it up for adoption." Would you want a child you couldn't support to be farmed out to some mysterious family never to be seen again. You think that every woman who has made the choice to terminate a pregnancy doesn't want children? Maybe they want a whole housefull of them but they also know that they can't support and be a good parent at that time. Do you honestly think that they want to go down to the clinic to see a bunch of self-rightious, sign waving ******* telling them what a horrible person they are. The decision is hard enough.
Now let us return to high school biology and the development of the fetus. The fetus is entirely dependent on the host/mother for development. It cannot survive on it's own. The mother dies, it dies. When the fetus develops enough to live on its own (or at least with the help of equipment) it can be considered an infant. Prior to that it is a fetus, not a baby.
So, hop off your little soapbox and try to examine all aspects of abortion. Women don't get them because they don't have anything better to do on a Saturday afternoon. It's not a decision they make because they feel like killing a baby that no one wants. Examine all sides before passing judgement on a woman's legal and moral right to choose what's best for her and the fetus.

no one can be compelled to be a parent. that's a complete violation of human integrity. the child aborted could be hitler, too, you know. and more likely to be, than some great person, because unwanted children have awful lives.
not every fertilized egg needs to grow. yes, it is killing a potential child. guess what, we have that right. the potential child does not have a right to be born. if it makes it here, then it has full rights. until then, no. you probably think a fetus has a soul and that is why this is distressing to you. not everyone believes that and no one should be forced to practice your religion. you practice your religion and leave others alone.
humans have aborted unwanted babies for millenia. roe v wade didn't start anything, it just made you see what has always been happening. if you don't like it, work for a society where no children ever grow up sad and alone and so start having sex really young as a substitute for parents. work for a society where health care is free for all and parental leave is provided for three years after a baby's birth. work for a society that welcomes children and then when we have one, mouth off to people carrying burdens you know nothing about.

When aborting a fetus, you are merely cleansing a growth of unwanted cells from a body. Cancer is a growth of malignant cells that will keep growing unless stopped. You want to get rid of that growth. A miscarriage is called "aborted" in medical records, and no one seems to mind because the body aborted the growth. I "aborted" twins with Mother Nature's help, not a doctor, but my record read "aborted" and it was perfectly acceptable and that was 30 years ago! What's the difference whether Mother Nature does it or a woman takes control of her life and allows it to be done herself? Abortion should be a case of a woman having control of her body, not a case of who takes controls over her.
I do offer one caveat - when the heart begins to beat, then it is alive and I have a problem with abortion then. That's when it is time for all you do-gooders out there to step up and take the newborn off the hands of the mother who never wanted it in the first place. If you insist on a woman pro-creating, then you should also insist on helping to support and care for those cocaine babies, the AIDS babies, the children of incest and rape, the badly deformed, the cretins or the 10th child in a family that already lives on the edge of poverty because someone told them that God would provide if they just believed and had children.

consider this what if the person getting the abortion is a 14 year old girl who is a rap victim. Because this does happen. why should the girl have to handle something like that not being able to be normal at school and have to carry the baby of a guy who raped her and be reminded of it every day. when she should be getting counseling to try to get over it. why should she have to raise it and I'm sure you would say she could put it up for adoption but she would still have to go through the whole pregnancy feeling outcast by all her Friends would any boys look at her if she were pregnant. and if she did put it up for adoption wouldn't everyone remember her as the girl who put her baby up for adoption.SO NEXT TIME YOU SAY YOU DID THE RESEARCH AND YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT AND THAT THERE IS KNOW REASON TO EVER HAVE AN ABORTION. YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT THE **** YOUR TALKING ABOUT AND THINK ABOUT ALL THE SCENARIOS I CANT STAND WHEN ASSHOLE LIKE YOU THINK THERE ALWAYS RIGHT AND THAT THERES ONLY ONE WAY. and you don't think anything through so go and do some more research about what your talking about. and you better rate this the best answer to because i know this has got to make you think maybe there are exceptions and it should be OK sometimes.

A fetus is not a human being. It is an extension of its mother, who can keep it or dispose of it as she sees fit. If she wants to have the baby, fine. If she wants to abort the fetus, she can do so, for any reason - including the simple desire to avoid inconvenience or unwanted responsibilities. The fetus becomes a human being at the moment of birth, and not a single minute sooner.
There is no such thing as an "unborn baby". The two terms are mutually exclusive.
I believe that many, perhaps most, of people who are against abortion, even those who say they are against abortion for religious reasons, are really against it because they want to see women they perceive as "loose" or pleasure-seeking punished. They can't stand the thought that some woman, somewhere, is having a good time having sex, and wants to punish her by imposing the burdens of motherhood on her. Such people would do well to remember that, except for actions that cause harm to people (crimes), taking a certain action DOES NOT IMPLY acceptance of "the consequences". If someone can dodge or otherwise reject "the consequences" of his or her actions in a way that does not cause harm to others (remember that "others" does not include a fetus), they should CERTAINLY have the right to do so, if they wish.

The reason that I believe abortion should be legalised is because it is a choice that women will make, regardless of legislation. There will always be people who will, for their own reasons, perform and/or seek abortions regardless of legislation. This means that the situation in which the abortion is performed may be unsafe; this will not be regulated by the government or any official medical authority.
By legalising abortion, it can be regulated in the following ways:
- Providing counselling to women considering abortion, to educate them about other forms of birth control and reduce the number of abortions sought
- Ensuring that the abortions which do occur do so in a safe environment by a trained professional, thus limiting the chance of harming or sterilising the mother (who may plan to start a family later in life, when she is financially/emotionally capable of supporting a child.
I believe that these measures would significantly reduce the number of abortions performed each year.
The problem with your question is that you're assuming that, if abortions are illegal, people cannot have them performed. This is not true. As long as there are people who know how to, and are willing to perform abortions, women will be able to make the choice to seek an abortion. The people who decide whether to legalise abortion are not granting or revoking that choice; they are just choosing whether or not to *support* that choice.

Second, you can't tell me to do anything, because you are there and I am here. And I'm not listening to you. You say that you are smart and have done your research? Then why can't you perform the simple task of using spell check? Also you have a hard time properly structuring sentences. Every time you respond to these people, you keep contradicting yourself. If you don't want our opinions, then don't post your rant. Yes, rant. Because that's all you are doing. You say an aborted fetus could have ended up the next person to cure cancer. So, this is your rationality to stop abortions? What about the kid that dies in a car crash because you were to busy talking on your cell phone? He also could have been the next researcher to cure cancer. So we should make cell phones illegal? Or driving a car illegal? Where does it stop? Oh, and yes it should be legal, legal and legal. You can't tell me not to say "legal" because I'm bigger than you, and I'm also smarter than you.

There is nothing new under the sun. In the Old Testament the god Molech was worshipped. He was a sex god and he was worshipped by orgies. The babies that were concieved in those orgies were thrown onto huge bowls set up in the temple fire and fried alive. Now, because the mother never sees the babies, and maybe the practice is less painful, people are convinced it is different from the past; but the babies are still sacrificed for pleasures of the moment. If it is true love, a man will want it to last forever and marry you. It is, according to the state, still a woman's choice to kill her own baby, even if she is just because she is selfish and she only cares about what she WANTS.
