Simply put can we blow out the storm with a bomb or amplifide sound waves or otherwise alter the energy of the storm in a way to reduce loss of life and property.

So far there is no way to blow out a hurricane, at least not safely. If you exploded enough nukes you might be able to do it, but the nukes themselves would do a large amount of damage.

However, there IS a way to STOP hurricanes- just not blow them out. They recently invented a substance called dyno-gel, which absorbs an enormous amount of water. A few airplanes flying over a hurricane and spraying this stuff into the air would cause a large area of cloud to fall as rain. Not only would the raindrops tend to push air down, the cold water from the upper atmosphere would cool down the surface of the ocean underneath and prevent air from rising- and hurricanes thrive on rising air. So yes, it is possible, or if it isn't now, it will be soon.

Bizarro! I was thinking the exact same thing, but I didn't have the great ideas you put there like the amplifide sound waves...that would alter the energy I would say. A bomb would be a bit unsafe for people in the surrounding areas but not more so than the hurricane itself. I say yes! Let's try it!

The energy needed to be generated to adversely affect a storm would be on a magnitude that would exceed the storm. I don't think I would want someone generating that kind of power.

They used to seed storm clouds to try to make them lose their energy before they built up into a big storm, but it was unpredictable at best.

Yes.

Anything is possible, I guess.
