This is ok, I guess if you have no other means. Are the 2 children not the same sex if so put them in the same room and take back some privacy. If they are not, then I'd try and save for a larger place, after while you'll grow tired of sleeping and doing everything else in the open.

Sounds kind of crowded to me. Are there three kids?
It sounds like a situation I would not like. Kids get up Saturday morning, want to watch cartoons, girlfriend wants to sleep in, trouble!
On the other hand, if this is the only place you can afford, you must deal with it.

No, you and your gf should take the room and the kids sleep in the living room. It's about privacy for you as a couple (you do sex, the kids don't). Get them double/triple decker beds.
