Do not remove your fan shroud, Check and see if maybe your fan clutch is bad causing your fan to be always engaged making the loud fan roar.

Do not remove the shroud. The shroud helps to direct air over the engine compartment to help control the high heat. As for the wind tunnel noise, look in front of the radiator for paper or leaves. You might also try weatherstrip material in the open space around the front edge of the shroud where it meets the back side of the radiator. If the water pump uses a fan clutch , the silicon clutch could be slipping.

When I sent the message I forgot to mention , that if it is the fan clutch, you can remove the fan and fan clutch and install one or two electric fans at and on the radiator. My 2003 has this set up.

You have another alternative too, Remove the shroud, -but put in a couple aftermarket electric fans in opposite corners to augment lost airflow caused by "tunneling" airflow to increase volume! You can put in a couple 10" or so electric fans , - one top and one bottom on opposite sides, with thermostat switch, or solenoid hooked to A/C compressor, - which is when the most hot air is dumped in front of the radiator! The truck has plenty of room betweeen the a/c radiator and the grille!
