With practice. If you stretch every day, you will quickly find yourself becoming more flexible. I used to almost be able to do a split back in the day when I danced, and it was from years of having to do it at dance class every week. I now don't have that ability because I don't dance or stretch nearly as much as I used to.

I remember when I was in high school our cheerleading coach use to make the girls who did not know how to do a split put a chair against the wall and go down as far as possible while holding on to the chair for support this is after of course stretching for about 10-15 min. Its going to hurt at first but after your body gets use to being stretched in this position you will be able to do it with ease

A split is a gymnastic and dance move in which one makes their legs parallel to one another, but perpendicular to their body. There are two forms: front splits, and side splits. The split is associated with hamstring, calf, and iliopsoas muscles of the legs. It is a popular spectacle in many cultures because of its requirements in flexibility. It is most often used at the end of a performance, because it is difficult to exit the position with gracethe splits or try to, do then by turning the body in line with the legs.

Stretch for 30 mins to an hour EVERY single day. Go down little by little day by day until you touch the floor. Thats what i did and now i can do the splits both ways and in the air EASILY with NO problems.

Stretch every day for at least 10 minutes, you should be able to do the splits in about a week

I taught myself to do a split by stretching everyday. Every day I stretched and stretched and went as far as I could. I was very dedicated. After just a bit I was able to do it. You have to keep stretching afterwards or you will not keep the ability to do it.

You don't teach yourself, you train yourself. Do stretches every day for half an hour, holding each individual stretch for a least thirty seconds. Be careful though- don't push yourself farther than your body is ready to go, tight muscles are easily injurable.

The only way you can do a split, is do the splits has far down has possible and have someone else push you down

The best time to stretch is when your muscles are warm, so after you take a bath or shower sit in front of the TV (to distract you from the pain) and bend one leg and stretch the other in front of you, and everytime you get used to the pain, push yourself more. Do it everyday, you'll become a gymnast in weeks.............Or you could do aerobics or yoga. NEVER STRETCH WHEN YOUR MUSCLES AREN'T WARM...YOU COULD PULL SOMETHING!!!

by doing stretch exercises every day...training yourself to do a split.
