When you receive a gift from someone, do you like to get a gift card to a store so you can buy whatever you want or would you prefer to get something specific knowing they made the effort to put thought into your gift?

I would rather know they made the effort and put thought into it. Back when I was married, long time ago, the best present my husband gave me were hand picked flowers. I saw him in a field picking flowers, and it took him like over an hour. That meant more to me than a dozen store bought roses. Now if this were directed to my kids, they would not even want the gift card. hahaha they would just want the cash.

I like getting a gift. I am actually kind of disappointed when I get a gift card because I think that the people didn't care enough to get me an actual gift.

Not everybody puts alot of effort into gifts, mostly what you will get are baskets of body wash cause that is so easy or cologne. I think I would prefer the gift card, I would enjoy it more.

I'd rather get something specific, rather than a gift card, even if I don't like it. It shows me that they're creative and that they wanted to impress me and make me happy rather than take the easy route and give me cash or a gift card.

prefer to get sth specific as its more sentimental and touching knowing that they actually spent time in coming up with the gift.
