I do know one thing, if you have the capability to love someone that much then you will again. Until you love someone again (the one who is The Right One) you may not know whether that past love was worth it or not or whether you learned anything from the experience. As far as how long it will take you to get over the feeling, that depends on a lot of factors: your age, how long you were together, how close you were, the reason for the break-up...but either way, time heals. It really does. I've been in love (really in love) twice before I met my husband. And the difference with my husband is that I never ever doubted how he felt about me. The past loves I had, pale in comparison. You'll get that too.

Believe me, I loved and was broken more than ever before. It took me a few months to get over it, but now I can see clearly that he is a total loser. I am glad that I loved, and would have prefered to never love at all, even though I was hurt. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

It's better to not have experienced love at all. I would rather experience joy and peace than love. Love hurts when it is yanked from under feet. It does take a good while to get over someone, it took me a year.

It really sucks right after a break up, but I guess it depends on much of a connection you had to the person to determine how long it'll take to go away.

Yeah but when you're 60, and you never have even been there, imagine the emptiness that lasts for the next 20 or so years, and continues right up to your last breath.

To have never loved at all is NOT commendable, it leaves one closed and shut-off - a whole dimension of the self will not have been developed. . To have loved and lost, is painful - but it opens and awakens your true self, and develops that dimension that would otherwise have atrophied.

Absolutely! Break ups are hard, but they can, also, be learning experiences to help us in future relationships.
