half of the icons in my systray. If I go back and do a restart again the whole set of icons reappear. I ran msconfig to disable some of my starup programs but some of the icons I wanted disappeared while some of the icons I didn't want remained. How could I print out a copy of the startup programs so that I could learn more of the details about each one? There is no menu item for "print" and the printscreen key does nothing. Please help!

Download HijackThis from here:

Save it on your desktop, then run it and choose "Scan and create a logfile." The log file is a text file called HijackThis.log on your desktop. It will show all the processes that are running and then a list of both startup programs and other things. Some are necessary, some optional, some malware, so don't start deleting things unless you know for sure what they are.

Right click on the taskbar and then to properties. This way you can check out the way the tray works mand maybe it's something with you having them go away after startup.
