I've seen it EVERYWHERE, but what is the point of wasting all that breathe when you can just call them by their first name? Does it seem more intimidating or is it just for no reason?

When i mean by full name, I mean like you're first name, middle name (if given), and last name. I've even heard them call them like 3,4,5 or 6 names....

HAHAHAHAHAHA
i do that with my kids.
i guess that's when I've had enough romping or griping back in forth that i yell the full whole name to get their attention.

hey it works...don't knock it till you have a few of your own...LOL

It is their way of saying your in big trouble!! Mine did it all the time and so did my aunt when I did something wrong. Pretty much they call you by your first name to talk to you but if they are mad that is when the full name comes out!!

I have no idea. I used to be able to gauge my mom's true anger by it (shes very soft spoken.) First and surnames meant lady you are in big trouble, add the middle name and its like "you are going to die". It drove me crazy all the way through growing up, then what do I find myself doing to my own young children. Its definately meant to intimidate.

I do it with my kids. It gets there attention right away and let's them know that they are in trouble. They tend to listen more when the full name is mentioned.

I don't know, but for some strange reson my parents have never done this. Like they call me Gabrielle instead of Gabby, but they like NEVER call me Gabby. I guess they just don't have that thing for full names.

It must be intimidating or at least us Moms think so because we all do it.
