I have Chessmaster 6000 installed on my laptop, and i am trying to uninstall it. First off, when i first installed it, there was a power surge and it was not installed correctly. Then, when i tried to run the natural uninstall part of the program, it opened a window called "open" and is attempting to search for something called INSTALL as a file type of "Installation logs." Now, when i try and go to the Add or remove programs portion, it still does not work; i get the same window as before. How can i remove this troublesome program from my harddrive?

I was just talking about this. I had the same thing happen. I decided not to complete a download on something and thought I had gotten rid of it but everytime I would reboot it would come back up to finish the installation. But I could not get it to finish. It kept coming up as an error. I tried off and on for about a month and could not find it to delete. Tried under the control panel and it did not show up there. Nothing seemed to work. I finally got rid of it yesterday. What I did was go to properties. There was a button to click on that said "find target". It took me into windows explorer (I had tried to find it there but it wasn't where the computer said it was)... When I got to the target I right clicked on it and deleted it. GOOD LUCK !

The original installation did not finish. So install the program again, in the same place, and your uninstall should work.
The uninstall option was not fully installed so your program was ended when it was half done installing, leaving a registry entry and part of the program.
You could also get a registry cleaner and should be free, to get rid of bad registry entries from installations.

Open your computer in safe mode, open settings, and uninstall the program. If that does not work, in the safe mode, click on Start, click on search, search out the files associated with the program, and delete them manually.

Go to My Computer, see if its in the first set of folders. If you dont see it right there, go to Program Files in My Computer and delete it.

attempt a equipment fix application. start up-upload-ons-equipment equipment-equipment fix. locate the main present day equipment fix factor and attempt fix to it. you're able to lose some differences on account that then yet a minimum of your equipment would be back up working lower back.
