Your mom is probably right. It sounds like your period is starting. Cramps can be pain in your lower stomach between your belly button and your pubic bone. You can also get pains in your thighs or lower back. The menstral fluid can be red, pink, or even brown.

I was 11 when mine started. It's not too young.

If you are of puberty age when a period could start (9-14) it could very well be a period. Sometimes when women start menstruation they will have a light first period and maybe skip a few months before starting to have a routine monthly period. Or it could be you accidental ruptured your hymen, this happens sometimes when horseback riding, physical sports(karate, etc) Don't panic! If the discharge continues and the discomfort becomes troublesome see your doctor. Sometime a bladder infection can cause bleeding from that area(blood passing from your bladder out of your body). Welcome to woman hood!

Well, I'm inclined to agree with your mom. I'm assuming you haven't had your first period yet. This seems like a really good sign that your body is getting ready to, you are maturing. Don't get overly anxious though. My friend had a similar situation, and she didn't get her first real period until 1/2 a year later. It is really good that your mom knows that it happened though. Make sure that you do keep some sanitary napkins (pads) in the house and that you know how to use them, and feel comfortable wearing them.

I was 10 when I had my first period. I didn't have any warning like your discharge, I just had cramps. But it sounds like your body may be reaching that point in puberty. If not soon, maybe in a month or 2. Good luck :-)

Sounds like you culd be starting your period.
For many girls the first one is very light and you may not have another one for months. But it will happen.Having cramps in your lower abedomen and your lower back is normal and the discharge varies from red to brownish.

I would suggest wearing a panty liner in case you get to school and it does to turn out to be a period, because you don't want to get blood on your clothes. And if the pad stays clean, then it is safe to say you haven't started your period.
Good luck!

Its a safe guess that it is. But it might just start now and you might get your next one a little while later.. so don't worry if it doesn't come back next month. But in the mean time Congrats!

God bless.

It sounds like you're getting your period. It feels like a slight discomfort in your lower stomach. Congratulations! I remember when I got my period, my mother told my grandmother who, in turn, told my aunt and her sons! I was so embarrassed 'cause they kept smiling at me and saying 'congratulations!'

It could be the begining of it. It's not unusual for someone your age to start. There have been girls in my family to start that soon.
