I would suggest although someone else suggested it, Michelle Branch's song Goodbye to You.
Also there is a country song I'm not sure of the singer or lyrics. But I believe it's called how can I help you say goodbye.
"How can I help you say goodbye, it's okay to hurt and it's okay to cry, come let me hold and I will try, how can I help you to say goodbye, Momma whispered softly time will ease your pain, life's about changing nothing ever stays the same."
That's the chorus - and actually at the beginning of the song the singer sang about how her child hood friend moved away and how she cried when she left - then the song continues on down her life journey and how she's said goodbye to people in her life.
Really beautiful.
