Well, it has become widely accepted that a twin blade is better than just one and the principle naturallly extends to 5 blades. One reason is because the pressure of the blades against the face is lessened which makes for a more "comfortable" shave. Each time another blade is added, the resultant improvement per blade is diminished but is still an improvement. It is really a gimmick but the individual can choose to go with 5 or stay with 1, 2 or whatever. Hopefully, no-one is going to be daft enough to offer more than 5 blades in the future - just how smooth does a man's face have to be, anyway?

As above, no one really, it's a marketing ploy. Imagine, in 10 years time they'll make a razor with 20 blades. :o)

Nobody. It is just slick marketing by the makers. The good old single straight blade does it's job just fine. All advertising is geared towards the "more is better" philosphy and people fall right into this trap.

~~~Ohhh ,,,,,when will they stop!! when they started makeing razors with two blades,,,wow,,,clever,,,,but now?? 5,,soon there will be 6,,, how far will they go??? will they just make a machine that men can stick there face in and a machine for women just pop this over your legs,,whoosh,,,this just baffels me ,,,,sometimes to much is not a good thing,,,,~~~
