I think so, but it depends on who you are really. That's why I get embarrassed. That, or sometimes, other people tease and make fun of me, and it makes me feel stupid :( It's just, you don't really want to make a fool of yourself or anything in public, unless it's intentionally to make people laugh :D Some people have a lot more confidence than I do though.

In my view it could mean one lacks self confidence . The best thing I can think of is LAUGH You do not say what the "something" is but I go for laughter any time I find myself in this position Don't most of us care on some level what others think? Laughing breaks the moment and if necessary a quick and short explanation can follow

I think you care about what you think of yourself. When I embarrass myself I normally think Why the hell did you just do that ! Not so much what others are seeing but am I really that stupid.

It's not that you care what other people think so much as you hate looking like a jack@ss in front of other people. At least that's how i feel when in actuallity most people really don't care at all.

Hmm...well in the sociological perspective...I guess it WOULD mean that you care about what other people would say...cause you learned by society what to and what not to do...and having done something sociologically wrong, then you react by being embarrased.
