I hope so. Their hitting is so anemic and the pitching is not as good as it was before the all star break. They are so dependent on pitching they need all the help they can get. Lucky for us we're in a weak division as well as a weak league. Probably can get into playoffs barely over .500 again.

Padres fan.

I think he will not hurt the Padres chance of making the playoffs. At his age Wells is there to give the Padres some quality innings pitched. If he can do that in the 5 or 6 starts he can possibly have the rest of the regular season then he helps. The wild card race in the NL is up for grabs and the Padres have as good a chance as the 5 other teams within 3.5 games of them in the wild card race. It is just going to come down to which of the 6 teams with a realistic chance at the NL wild card gets hot in the remaining 26-27 games. I like San Diego's chances with or without Wells.

Only time will tell. While he was with the Red Sox, he ran hot and cold, mostly cold, especially this year. But he is capable of some good pitching. If he does what he can do, he will be a definite asset to the Padres and will help them into the playoffs.

Yes, hes a big game pitcher, a late season pitcher and a pitcher who looked great in his last two starts. Expect the padres to make the playoffs.

David Wells may not be throwing well right now but he is an old master and knows what to do in big games. So yes, he could play an important role.

Without a doubt he can, Even though he is large in stature he is also a BIG GAME PITCHER that has proven time and again that he will come up big given the ball in a crucial situition.

He's more of a problem than a help to any team at this point in his career. He needs to retire soon.
