there is no formal requirement and each restorant is different, but i agree with you, most shmancy places dont hire fat wait staff

I doubt there is. But, you have to remember probably one of the most important things in the restaurant business- presentation. This is why you get a little piece of parsley on your grand slam breakfast from Denny's. It's not there for you to eat; it's there to make the food look better. For example, the Hooters chain is so successful because of the presentation- of the food, the interior of the store, and of course, the wait staff. Your server is part of that, too. As much as it pains me to say it, society has adopted a feeling that people must be skinny. I don't believe it, but it is true.

no ne one can work in a fancy resturant!!
but you have to have the look! if u go to a fancy resturant for an interview or to pick up an application...
look your absolute best!!even a suit for the interview or jus picking up an application...will give u the conservative look
they will love it
& they will definately remember you!!
& u want them to rememeber you....cuz if they do .... you have their FULL attention!!!

i know there is an age requirement for working. there should not be a weight requirement b/c it would be decrimination.
