That was the day when Japan blundered into World War Two by bombing The American fleet based at Pearl Harbor Hawai'i. At the moment it seemed terrifying. Hundred of planes raining bombs from the sky, thousands dying, a large number of them aboard the battleship Arizona when it exploded. It was enough to galvanize a Nation into War. Americans who had been reluctant to fight Hitler & Mussolini were suddenly determined to wipe out 'The Yellow Peril.'

What Japan did was two fold - - - and how it all worked out is the definition of Irony. First Up, Adolf Hitler declared War on America in order to support the Japanese. This pleased President Franklin Delano Rooseveldt since he had been hoping to strike against Germany & Italy and so plans laid long ago were set into motion. Eventually America kicked Hitler's A S S.

And Japan went down for the count after all - - - the nation never had the resources to fight America. Pearl Harbor was a Strategic Blunder that accomplished little. Yes two old battleships were destroyed along with an old worn out target ship. The majority of ships damaged at Pearl Harbor were repaired by late 1942 early 1943 and did their part in defeating Japan. One of the most spectacular images of Pearl Harbor, an immence flash of fire & smoke rolling through the chaos is often mistaken for the destruction of The Arizona. Instead it is an image of the aft ammunition locker of The Destroyer Shaw exploding. The Shaw was back in battle within six months.

Japan had the option of ignoring America, concentrating her forces against Indochina and Indonesia, history would have been a lot different if an indifferent America refused to go to war against either Japan or Germany had it not been for The Attack on Pearl Harbor.

Peace.

That was the day the Kamakazee pilots from Japan raided Peral Harbor, Hawaii. They sank ships and destroyed many planes before they could even be lifted from the runway. When they ran out of ammo or were unable to fight, they suicide bombed their planes into important targets like battleships.

the Japanese Attacked Pearl Harbor -- and many of our Military Service Members died that day. That was the day Japan woke "The Sleeping Giant" and the US dates their involvement in WWII from that point in time.
