we really need more info for a better answer.

if you are refering to an internet connection... then...
you will have to chose between..
dialup, wireless, wired (dsl, cable modem, fractional t1, t1 etc)

There are lots of service providers. Usually the local telphone company has dialup or dsl, the cable company has a cable modem, sometimes there is wireless service available, and satelight services are round for those in the woods.

A standard answer, like mine is:

ethernet card on the computer
a network aware os: windows xp or ubuntu linux or apple os X.
avoid older windows like windows 95, win98, winme, win 2000.
a router (mine is a linksys)
a cable modem (from road runner)
cables from the modem to the router, router to the computer
Road runner cable vision.

Best to ask some local friends to get local options. There should be some local adverts as well.
