The risk is lower than for genital sex, but there's still a risk, so use condoms even for orals with occasional partners. HIV isn't the biggest threat here. Syphilis is a lot more contagious and the disease is pretty common in some areas.

Unprotected sex is plain stupid, so don't do it.

There is risk involved in having unprotected oral sex with a man or a woman. It is not as risky as unprotected anal or vaginal sex, but it is still possible to get HIV this way. It has long been known that the virus can be transmitted through oral sex - and while it is less likely to contract HIV or other STD's, it is still a possibility. Research in the UK and US among gay men now suggests that oral sex may be responsible for up to 8% of HIV infections.

Other sexually transmitted diseases, such as syphilis and gonorrhea are also spread from person to person by oral sex.

no less dangerous than having anal or vagina intercourse. All it takes are open sores in one's mouth or genital. Often you are not even aware of minor cuts in your mouth or genital. Like after flossing or brushing teeth your gum could be bleeding. Any over extenstion of sex play could bruise the skin easily. However percentage does not play the role here , a rather complex of how your immune system works play a major role here. Or what people call luck.
