I would take a gorilla with me so he could climb trees and knock coconuts down for me. They say their very smart to so thats always good.
I would take potatoes because thats what I live on, I'm a vegetarian. I would take a radio so I could hear whats going on in the outside world. Also I would take a photo album so I could look at pictures of my friends and family.
And finally I would take a big knife so I could hunt more food, open the coconuts, chop down trees for shelter and stuff like that.

No companion- you didn't allow food for them to be brought along and I don't want to kill them
