I agree with you on this. Last week I let out with a swear word(Something I honestly never normally do in front of my kids) when I hit my knee on the desk, and my little two year old daughter said the word for the rest of the day! I felt horrible and ashamed. We parent's need to be good examples to our children, especially when they are just starting out in life.

I really do agree with this. I see people's parent's swearing all the time, but they yell at the kid if they do. It's a very hypocritical situation. It's the same type of situation you see on television when a parent did drugs in college and they tell their kids not to (could happen in real life is my point).

watching what you say and do in front of and to your child usually saves a boatload of spanking later. sometimes it doesn't work out that way, and kids'll always hear god knows what from friends, but maybe if you can get 'em soon enough and instill some sort of value system in them early, they'll have the tools to make better decisions when you're not around.

just a thought.

I have a friend who yells and screams at her kids all the time then wonders why they have bad attitudes. the house hold is always a war zone i get stressed out talking on the phone with her I know what you mean. Be a role model

Maybe that is the only way he'll learn. I'm not saying that I support it, because there are other ways of dealing with it. If you are upset about it, maybe you should talk to your brother about it. If you don't speak up, then you'll feel worse. Or maybe you could strategize some other ideas.

Parents are suppose to set examples for their children. Is there someone who could spank your brother?

i totally agree....my husband has a serious problem with his mouth and my 2 year old now thinks that everything is called 'b***h'... she gets spanked for other things sometimes but definitely not for that

practice what you preach! That isn't a spanking issue anyway! Pick the battles that matter most!
