First of all, I dont agree with abortion. I've been faced with a situation where many would consider doing it, but I didnt and I'm happy with that, so yes, my belief has been tested and held firm.
That said, is abortion a necessary evil? 3,000 babies are aborted in the US every day. Wow! If abortions were NOT practiced, there would be 3,000 extra little unwanted people being brought into this world everyday. Think of all the unwanted, abused kids that already fill our foster-care system. What if abortions were illegal? We would have women doing stupid and dangerous things trying to kill their babies, and those that didnt would probably end up in the foster care system. Or, if the parents kept the child that they didnt want, who knows what would happen? Maybe that child would be treated horribly because of their bitterness. I'm not saying that abortion is ever justifiable, but to be realistic, we cant stop people from doing it.

by the way, to the first answerer, im sorry to hear that. my mom was also told that. that she would surely die if she tried to keep me, and that i would most likely die too, or at least be a vegetable if i survived. she spent her whole pregnancy in intensive care, and they tried to yank her rights and force her to have an abortion. but she fought. and we both lived and are happy and healthy and normal. doctors suck. god is powerful

No, killing innocent unborn children is never "necessary." We may not be able to stop people from committing rape and child molestation either, but does that mean we shouldn't have laws against it? Some people kill their born children, too. Should we make it safer for them to do it?
There is no such thing as an unwanted infant in the United States. There are 40 couples waiting for every ONE baby who comes up for adoption in the U.S. There are waiting lists of people who would like to adopt babies with Down sydrome, with HIV, and with other disabilities, as well as people who would like to adopt babies of any race. People go to Europe, Asia, and Africa to adopt because there are very few babies available here.
However, I can tell you that very few women who decide against abortion then decide to place their child with an adoptive family. Most choose to keep their child and end up falling in love with them. In fact, statistics show that most abused children were very much "wanted." Even if babies were "unwanted," however, that is no excuse for killing them! Murder is never kind. A child in the womb is just as real and just as deserving of our protection as a child outside of the womb.

Abortion is never about abortion. It also is about the lives of women ans children and families. It's about our disposition as a society toward women and mothers. It's about our attitude about children, especially those born into difficult circumstances, and whether we see them as a gift or burden.
For the majority of the populace we don't think of the " unseen violence " in abortion. There's more than four thousand performed everyday, more than thirty million in twenty-five years.
Anxious mothers, fathers, grandparents and children are all victims to this violence. There are the lies to friends and families, severed relationships, the birth of life-long regret, and often the move to a " replacement baby ".
Groups and abortion lobbies have sprung up to ensure that the laws allows the misery made by the abortion industry to continue. Roe gave them the license to operate and over the past twenty-five years these groups have amassed an enormous amount power, influence and money. Because the financially rich tend to favor legal abortion and because of their influence and access to the public forum the pro-abortion message is enormous.
The " Freedom of Choice " movement has confused and denied the simple truth that every abortion violently destroys a human life. It lies about the relationship that exists in God's plan between the child in utero and the mother and the sense of loss a mother will experience when she severs this relationship.
What with the development of medical techniques and equipment for studying preborn life, scientists and theologians alike are challenging the position of when is a human being considered to be life. The research being done and the Scriptures both point to the fact that life begins at conception. The un-born child is an individual from the moment of conception and indeed has an independant existence of his/her own. Upon conception we have a new unique identity, for conception gives him/her hereditary code, the genetic map which blueprints his/her development and determines what he/she will be. Studies of the development fetus shows that at three weeks after conception, the baby has developed significantly. From the scientific research that is being done, we can see the remarkable growth of a baby and come to the conclusion that abortion is not merely the removal of tissue from a woman's body but is a deliberate killing of a human life. Horror stories of how aborted babies have been born alive and then left to die by doctors prove this fact.
If an unborn child has been created in the image of God and stands in a special relationship to His Creator, then the question of abortion must be considered in regards to the " sacredness " of a life. This does not give man or the woman the right to terminate this " sacred child " before the child's birth.
Scripture passages relating to abortion: Conception is a gift of God/ Genesis 21:1-2 ; Genesis 25:21 ; Genesis 29:31-35 ; Genesis 30:22-24 ; Judges 13:3-5 ; Ruth 4:13 ; Luke 1:13
God is the Creator of the un born/ Job 10:11-12 ; Psalm 139:13-16 ; Isaiah 44:2 ; Jeremiah 1:4-5 ; Galatians 1:15
All the Best and God Bless to those people caring to take ACTION for our newcomers.

Abortion MUST stay legal. There is NEVER a circumstance where a woman should be denied access to a SAFE abortion.
If abortions were outlawed, then you would see hundreds of women dying from back-alley abortions. Or alot of babies in plastic bags thrown in dumpsters!

I beliebe abortion is a woman's right- what she does with her own body is up to her. If she thinks it's wrong, then don't have one. However, if she is pro choice, and deicdes to have an abortion, I Think that should continue to be a legal choice for her. Without legalized abortions, we could three thousand deathes of women, plus the death of fetuses, because these women will try home abortions, and many MANY home abortions fail. But yes I do think you are right- abortion is sometimes a necessary evil.

i think abortion is way wrong. i mean everyone has their opinions, and i respect that, but i mean you shouldn't be having sex if you no you can't have a baby, but then again if somoeone were to give birth to a baby and didn't have money to take care of it then that's not right too. i would say just give birth to it and give it up for adaption at least.

I agree. I do not like abortion either and hope I never have to have one, but as you say it is a necessary evil.
